Marco Pantani was a man born by the sea who always looked at the mountains, as well as open spaces and niches to convoy his messages.

On these mountains, the “Pirata” built the capitals of his temples, with emotions that still nowadays spread timeless echoes beyond his mortal presence in theses places, embellishing them with the colour of his unusual character, in terms of man and athlete.

On the Galibier Pass, Marco Pantani depicted the most intense peak of its mountain theism until becoming Prophet of himself, offering his infinite Artist’s creed to the world.

It was written in the stars that Marco Pantani would win his first yellow jersey right on that French mountain, offspring of the cycling Legend.

Since 27 July 1998, the Galibier Pass and Marco Pantani are and always will be united and inseparable in the Myth, not only with regards to the sports sphere.
